Seeing as the group boasts both Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke and Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, supergroup Atoms for Peace can easily rely upon the strength of their lineup for attention. For Yorke, Flea and Co. this appears to give them incentive to have a little fun during the promotional stage.
Indeed between randomly releasing music mixes on SoundCloud, hiding free downloads on their website and DJ-ing at Fashion Week, the band is employing all kinds of unorthodox means of advertising the release of their first album, Amok.
Well, now they?re at it again. As pointed out by Pitchfork, the band?s website now features a special Easter Egg.
Upon scrolling across artwork (by Stanley Donwood) for the website, which displays a black & white rendering of some sort of massive flood, you?ll happen upon a shadowy man in a rowboat. Click on the man and you?ll be directed to a live video of the band performing Amok track ?Judge Jury and Executioner? at Japan?s Fuji Rock Festival.
Here?s a video of the performance below.
If that weren?t enough, XL Recordings?the record label set to release Amok?has also premiered artwork for the album?s deluxe edition.
View a gif of the elaborate packaging below.
